SHARING STORIES
Pick a medium: Once you’ve finished up your project, the last phase of this purpose journey is to share what you’ve been working on with others. To get started, choose the medium that makes the most sense for you.

Mixing Mediums

Storytelling helps us explore how we talk about meaning in our lives. What story mediums do you encounter regularly, and which are best for telling your story and what you care about? Try out different mediums and find the one where you feel the most heard.

Think about a story that you want to share with others, such as a recent experience, project, or goal that matters to you. Reflect on what is most important to you about that experience — what do you hope others might take away or learn from it?

Based on your reflections, narrow in and choose the medium that you think will best tell this story in the way you want. There’s no pressure to pick a specific medium; it’s your story and the way you tell it is up to you!

Try it out! Find a small way to get started. If it's a video, maybe record 30 seconds yourself on your phone. Or if it's sketches, try filling a page with the parts of your story you want to tell. As you’re experimenting with this medium, notice how your story might grow as you try emphasizing different parts or leaning in to new directions.

HABITS

Make expression multidimensional

Maybe one form of self expression comes easier to you than others. How might you expand your go-to methods? If you usually share feelings verbally, could you make something visual? If you tend to write about your thoughts, could you try expressing through movement?

Find your audience

Think about where you feel most heard. Is it with a few close friends? With a group of people who have similar interests? On social media with a larger audience and platform? Find the people who you want to express more of yourself to and share something new with this audience.

Widely define yourself

Oftentimes, we believe we need to fit into a certain mold or narrow definition, but this can limit our experiences. What’s one way you define yourself right now (i.e., an athlete)? What’s another identity you hold that might not fit the way you typically define yourself? Embrace both identities — your personality isn’t narrow!
